Incubate Musicians and Performers will be performing on the Acoustic Stage on Saturday 16th June from 11am – 2pm
On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th May over 150 local young people auditioned in The Birch Room on Hastings Pier.
The age range was 12 – 21 and we saw some amazing local talent.
Prior to these auditions the Eggtooth Mentors visited schools and Colleges to promote the auditions and the Zooquarium Festival.
We visited, St Leonards Academy, The Hastings Academy, St Richards, Rye College, Bexhill College and Helenswood.
We shared the information and the Zooquarium opportunity with over 500 young people.
The successful musicians were then mentored for 6 weeks by Brad Gross, Marie White, Brigitte Aphrodite and Gaz Tomlinson to support their journey to the Zooquarium Festival stage.
We chose 15 acts.
7 solo singers
We also chose 2 spoken word artistes and 5 other bands that were also excellent and were just far too good to pass by and they were added to the line up and performed on the YiaYia stage.
So, after 6 weeks of rehearsals, mentoring, writing new songs, learning about the Pier’s rich music heritage – choosing a heritage song to cover. The musicians had the opportunity to perform at a preview event at The Printworks on the 5th July. This was an extremely successful event with over 200 people of all ages in attendance and has inspired Eggtooth to continue working with The Printworks to offer a new monthly young peoples music evening called Incubate.
